South African mechanic taken hostage by Mozambique rebels
ISIS-linked insurgents raided a hunting lodge near Marangira in Cabo Delgado, disabling communications first then hitting the lodge, the police post and a clinic. A South African mechanic and two staff were taken hostage with roughly 11 feared missing or captured; three American guests escaped. The insurgency was already priced, but deliberately hitting a tourism site and taking foreign hostages extends the threat to the commercial economy.
